There is no greater outdoor activity than camping. The feeling that comes with it is simply sensational. Camping can be done almost anywhere, either in an animal or a plant habitat, but either way your behaviors needs to be reflective on it. Since you are going to camp in a plant and/or animal habitat, you need to be aware of their health while they adapt to your presence.
Nevertheless, camping will not be fun for animals if humans keep living in their homes while polluting the environment. However, if you want your camping experience to be as eco-friendly as possible, there are camping companies, such as Aussie Disposals, that provide just the right camping gear that you need. With minimum interactions, nature is going to take its course, but all in all, below are ways that can save the environment while camping:
- A pet is a no!
You must not bring pets to camp with you because they might disturb wildlife in one way or another. Your pet can be even killed in the process by wild animals. Nonetheless, if bringing a pet is compulsory, ensure the pet is on a leash even though your pet is all fun and friendly. If it keeps chasing animals, it might as well lead wild animals to you.
- No camping near water
Water sources are used by local wildlife to drink and even relax there. At times, they lay there to find anything to eat. Therefore camping near a water source is very dangerous although that doesn’t imply you cannot get drinking water for yourself from it. You can even swim there if the coast is clear. However, you shouldn’t mount a camping tent near it. You also should not be near water sources in the evening and in the morning so that animals get space for bathing and drinking.
- Have your group size reduced
If you have a sizeable group that you are traveling with, wildlife will be peaceful and not disturbed. Consider the fact that you are with a group of three people; it is easier to hear if an animal is nearing you in comparison to a ten people group. Also with a large group of people, keeping the environment safe is highly impossible. Wildlife needs to be protected at all costs.
- Be cautious of younger animals
Nothing angers parents like their children being messed with. Should you see any nest or any young animal never disturb it or make sure you leave it in peace lest you see the wrath of an angry parent. The parents can abandon the young ones when you disturb them, hence leaving the young ones being vulnerable.
- Dishwater and dishes
During washing of cutlery and plates make sure you do that at least fifty meters away from the camping site. Should soap be compulsory to use ascertain that the soap you are using is biodegradable? This is in order to prevent any negative environmental effect. The water that you will leave after use must be responsible and carefully disposed of. This can be done via sufficing the water leftovers across an area with more space. That will ascertain it quickly evaporates and not attract wild animals.
- Make sure rubbish is minimal
Having all the rest kept in mind, there are numerous tips you can do in order to reduce garbage. If it is possible to staff the rubbish well and carry it home to dispose of it there. You can also pack things that are necessary for camping like carrying repackaged food. Doing this will reduce disposal rates. Plastic is also a no! Plastic highly destroys the wildlife environment and even kills plants.
- Select a camping spot that is local
You might want to save time by reducing carbon output. This can be done by mounting the tent at a campsite that’s nearby. Local camping reduces overcrowding and risking animal lives. Plus you save the environment too.
- While planning for meals think within the box
While thinking about food for camping, you can take hamburgers, fries, hot dogs etc. but you must make sure to use a simple cardboard box. With such a box and an aluminum foil you can create a box oven to carry sweet treats such as s’mores, breakfast burritos and even cinnamon rolls. Everything you want to carry, make sure to put it inside this box then you are good to go.
- Opt for bug sprays and non-toxic sunscreens
Why put toxins onto your body when there are enough things you can do to avoid them. Plus you should not release harmful substances into the environment. There are various harmful sunscreens that you intoxicate your body. If you see any bugs around that are harmful there are various homemade sprays that can be used that can still be eco-friendly.
To camp, you need to effectively plan which should also be inclusive of eco-friendly tips that will be beneficial in the long run for you.
